Day 17 1/27/12

1/27/12 Day 17

Rise and shine to get to class by 9am. My gosh there are a set of twins that happen to get on the bus and their older brother (they are all young probably between the ages of 3-5). I love getting on the bus when they do because they are so entertaining. Thursday the little girls were singing “Jingle bells” and then today the little boy started to sing “ Barbie Girl”. It was so worth it being up that early to get to hear them. Then we got to class and we were learning about parliament and the class was set up like parliament would be set up as. I was part of the labor party with the independent parties. When Lyndon asked me a question about one of my parties it was the ONE thing I did not have in my notes. He asked me “what does Plaid Cymru mean?” I had no idea. If he asked who they represented I could have said those who are Welsh and they were from Whales. So, it made me look like I did not do a lot of good research. Then by the end of the class I asked a question that saved my ass because it showed I did get some good research after all. Then after class I went with Amanda to Leicester Square to get tickets to see Wicked. They told us to go the theatre to get tickets, which we did. We got tickets that were not sitting next to each other but with a decent view. I even learned that they have contests in which they choose people to be in a Broadway show which are considered to be the celebrities that are part of their Broadway shows compared to the US having random actors star in Broadway shows now a days. After we got the tickets, we went back to the flatts for a few hours. I did some laundry and got ready (makeup) and did some dishes and that was basically it. Then at 4:30pm we left to head to the theatre so we could get there a bit early. We found a pub called the Brass Monkey. I got some cider as did Amanda. It was pretty good and then she got fish and chips and I got this turkey burger which was pretty good. We even learned that rocket was another name for a lettuce. So we were there for about an hour and a half and afterwards we headed to the theatre. The show itself was not that bad and I tried to be open minded about it as I could. I personally am not a huge fan of Wicked but I thought I should give it a second chance. It really got me to think of how every time people are in power there is always something corrupt going on and it makes me wonder how bad things really are without the public knowing. After the show, Amanda and I went to the stage door to meet the cast. Of course I had forgotten my camera and a pen and paper. I was surprised how few people went to go wait by the stage door and how the cast members mostly just walked away. It was shocking to me. I ended meeting the person who played Fiero and I asked him about some good tattoo parlors. He told me about The family business and Frrist street. That was cool. Then I met the person who played Elphaba and I asked her what her favorite football (soccer) team is and she told me Manchester United. Never asked a broadway performer questions like that before and it was pretty cool. I gave Amanda the two autographs because this was her first time seeing the show and I thought it would be a good way to remember it. After that we headed back home and I went to do a load of laundry and after that I went to bed. It was a longer day than I thought it would have been but it was still really fun!
